Overview
As part of ETEC669 Designing and Developing Interactive Instruction course, we were to design and develop a unique learning program in Articulate Rise. As an eLearning developer, I have been working to gain a deeper understanding of web accessibility for online learning. I used this project as an opportunity to explore the WCAG standards to improve my knowledge and created a short eLearning program that would introduce accessibility concepts and offer practical tips for accessible eLearning design and development.
Design Process & Considerations
As I began to conceptualize the learning program, I created a project proposal to determine the scope, target audience, branding, learning objectives to be addressed and a brief outline of the course content.
I used this project proposal to structure the course, chunk the content and plan out the types of blocks and interaction to incorporate into the eLearning to support learning while keeping things engaging.
Some examples of interactivity I added include the following:
- Interactive infographics to provide different levels of details
- Tabs and accordions to group and fit information in limited space
- Knowledge checks for engagement and retention of key messaging
